Bernard J. Cleary

Bernard J. Cleary, age 89, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, passed away Friday, January 1st, 2016. Born in Butler, the son of the late William and Mary (Ryan) Cleary, he spent his career as a salesman and retired from Hull Sales in 1992. More important, Bernie was a member of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout leader, a Little League coach and a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony RC Church in Butler. The center of Bernie's life was his family and he was completely devoted to his wife and children. In 1948, he graduated from Villanova College. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen (Kelly) Cleary, his children, Brian Cleary, James and wife Linda Cleary, Eileen Cleary, Richard Cleary and Lynn Niedhardt, Kathleen and husband James Curtis and Maureen Cleary. He also leaves seven cherished grandchildren, three adored great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was predeceased by his siblings Marie, Edward, Thomas, John, Alice, William, Eileen, Charles, Richard and Robert. Bernie will be remembered as being a loyal husband, proud father and grandfather. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the New York Yankees and was a huge New York Giants fan. Viewing hours will be Tuesday, January 5th, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler. The funeral Mass will be said Wednesday, January 6th, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony RC Church, Butler. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
