Dr Edward Chesnut, Jr. "Doc" age 87, of Kinnelon, New Jersey passed away suddenly Thursday, June 15th, 2023. Ed practiced dentistry in Kinnelon until his retirement in 2015. He was a graduate of Boonton High School and also attended Verona High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Colgate University and Drew University before obtaining his dental degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Ed loved the great outdoors, golfing, fishing, and skiing. He also enjoyed traveling with his friends and family near and far. Ed taught Sunday school at St. Davids Church in Kinnelon, was on the Alumni board at Drew University, was an avid theater member at MPAC, a member of North Jersey Country Club, and a Charter member of New Jersey Trout Unlimited. Ed was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1956-1958 and the Air Force Reserves until 1963 as an instructor pilot based at Bryant Air Force Base in Texas.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Chesnut, III and Ruthie of Lake Tahoe, CA, three daughters and sons-in law, Darcy and Tom Asche of North Caldwell, NJ, Deborah and Steve Thomas of Rockaway, NJ, and Courtney and Andrew Rathweg of Dayton, OH, seven grandchildren Jesse and Wesson Asche, Jefferey and Carly Thomas, Caitlyn, Nora and Josephine Rathweg; brothers, Larry Chesnut of Sussex, NJ, Glenn Chesnut of Newark, NJ, sister-in-law Jo-Ann Chesnut of Morris Plains, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.
