George H. Riemer

Mr. George H. Riemer, a lifelong resident of Butler, passed away Thursday January 18th, he was 86 years old. He was born on September 18, 1920 to George Riemer Sr. and Agnes Morrill Riemer in Hammond, Louisiana.As a young man he was proud to be a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp and after serving relocated with his family to New Jersey where he met and married Marion his devoted wife of 35 years.George was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in Africa and Italy during World War ll.Mr. Riemer retired from 33 years of service with Amerace Corporation and went on to complete an additional 10 years of employment at Marotta Valve Corporation in Boonton, N.J.An excellent marksman and avid outdoorsman George enjoyed both hunting and fishing in the North Jersey and New York area.He is survived by his six children, 2 daughters, Paula Hero (husband Glenn), Donna Leiper and 4 sons George Jr. (wife Paula), Bill (wife Wanda) Bob and Charlie (wife Susanne). Also surviving are two sisters Florence Hannah and Mary VanZile and 3 brothers Aubrey, William and Francis Riemer, as well as by his 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Butler on Monday, January 22,2007 at 10:00am. Visiting will be on Sunday, January 21, 2007, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm.
