Surrounded by family, Heinz Wilhelm Hoeft passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2022, at the age of 95. He was born in Berlin, Germany on April 7,1927 to the late Wilhelm Hoeft and wife Martha. He served in various branches of the military and as a young man worked as an insurance agent. In 1957 Heinz and his family immigrated to the United States and settled temporarily in West Milford before moving to Ringwood where they resided for 34 years. Heinz worked as a chef in various country clubs including the North Jersey Country Club, Hackensack Country Club, and Upper Montclair Country Club.
Heinz was a loving husband to his wife Edith of 63 years. They met in Bremerhaven, Germany on a blind date and later married in 1951. He adored his children and his grandchildren. Heinz had an infectious smile, a very hearty handshake, and loved to tell jokes. Heinz had a fondness for food shopping. He would check the newspaper daily for specials in various supermarkets and travel any distance for them. On his one day off, he would take his family out to eat at various restaurants. He would always ask to see the kitchen and say hi to the chef, which became a regular occurrence. He became good friends with all the chefs at the local establishments and was never turned away. He left a memorable impression with everyone he encountered. Heinz will surely be missed by all.
Heinz is survived by his 2 loving daughters, Rita Dalton of Butler, and Sigrid Harlos & husband Ronald of Bloomingdale. His grandchildren Corinne Harlos of Maryland, Brian Hoeft of Butler, and Jessica Hoeft of Bloomingdale. Heinz was predeceased by his wife Edith, his daughter Patricia, and his son Michael.
