James Simpson, aged 73, died on October 11, 2019 at the Chelsea at Bald Eagle, West Milford, New Jersey after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. James was born on August 17, 1946 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by his wife Charlene Fisher, father Oliver Simpson, and son Timothy Simpson. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Simpson, his former son-in-law Martin Voelker, his grandsons James Voelker, 19, and Timothy Voelker, 16, and his mother Margaret Simpson all from Stockholm, NJ, his sisters Candice Sokolowski of North Haledon, NJ, and Kimberly Marion of Bloomingdale, NJ. Also mourning his loss are his two brothers-in-law, two nieces, three nephews, a great-niece and nephew, and Jennifers boyfriend Michael Kotch.James graduated from Butler High School in Butler, New Jersey. In 1966, James married the love of his life, Charlene Fisher after which they moved to Bloomingdale, New Jersey. It was in Bloomingdale where they created their life together and began their family. James worked as a Plant Manager for the wool felt manufacturing company Allied Felt (Central Shippee, Inc.) in Bloomingdale, NJ. He began his career there at the age of 19 and worked until retirement. James was a loving father to Jennifer Lynn. He was a volunteer firefighter for Bloomingdale Fire Department Hook and Ladder Company for over 15 years. James was also a member of the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church in Bloomingdale, New Jersey and later the Stockholm United Methodist Church in Stockholm, New Jersey. James was a selfless, loving, gentle, and kind man. James thoroughly loved being a dad and grandfather. James loved to garden, go fishing, build model train sets, and work on his truck. Over the years, he shared his love of these hobbies with his daughter and grandchildren who he taught how to fish, included in his gardening and harvesting, and building of model trains. He loved nature and had a profound love for animals which he passed down to his daughter and grandchildren. He always wanted to someday own horses and a small farm of his own. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, uncle and friend. He will be mourned by his family, friends and beloved dog, Lucky. His kindness, love, and humor will be profoundly missed.There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 16th from 10:00am - 11:30am (doors will open after the family has had some private time with Dad)All are welcome to follow the family to Mt.
