Antoinette L. Schmidt

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Antoinette L. Schmidt, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on May 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 16, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, Antoinette lived a life marked by warmth, devotion, and spirited care for those around her.

Antoinette dedicated much of her professional life to serving others as a secretary in the labor and delivery department at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. Her nurturing personality shone through both in her career and in her personal life, where she was the heart and soul of the Schmidt family.

She was known for her caring, loving, and affable nature, always lively and spirited, lighting up the lives of everyone she met. Antoinette delighted in gardening, cherished trips to the beach, and treasured attending her grandchildren’s events, pursuits that reflected her deep appreciation for the simple joys of life and nature’s beauty.

Antoinette’s proudest accomplishments were rooted in her family. She celebrated 63 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Bob. Together, they built a legacy of love and unity that thrives in their children: Michael Schmidt (and his wife Ariane), Kristina DePuyt (and her husband Tim), and Michele Schmidt, her cherished daughter-in-law. She was a pillar of strength and affection for her grandchildren—Michael (and his fiancée Audrey), Stephanie (and her husband Chris), Courtney, Eric, Allison, Amanda (and her fiancé Anthony), and Victoria—and a devoted great-grandmother to Gavin and Logan. Her spirit also lives on through the many nieces and nephews who admired and adored her.

Antoinette faced life’s challenges with grace and resilience. She sadly endured the loss of her brother Emilio Yannacone and her beloved son Anthony Schmidt, yet her love and faith never wavered.

Her family will honor her memory with a visitation held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service 7:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., located at 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ 07405.

As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman whose caring and kindness touched so many lives, we remember Antoinette not only for the roles she cherished but for the indelible warmth she brought into this world. Her legacy of love, nurturing, and spirited joy will forever echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. May she rest in peace.
