Charles David Davis passed away on December 16th, 2020, peacefully, in his home surrounded by family and in the arms of the Lord. He was 82. Charles was born in Hawthorne, New Jersey to Charles and Minnie Davis on August 17, 1938. He married his life-long sweetheart, Joan Elaine Valle of Hawthorne, New Jersey, on April 16,1966. The couple moved to Kinnelon, New Jersey where they raised a family of three girls, tended to pets of all kinds and developed strong friendships throughout the years. Charles worked for Stamato Sanitation Local 945 for 25 years before retiring. After retiring Charles and Joan downsized to an apartment in Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. Charlie was best known for his love of animals, raising and nurturing anything from the largest to tiniest of creatures. He had a passion for breeding pigeons and white doves, which he released at the weddings and funerals of close family and friends. Charles is predeceased by his mother, Minnie Theresa Davis, father, Charles Davis, baby brother, Charles and adored sister in laws Catherine Rattalino and her husband Paul, Violet Barsotti and her husband Edward and nephew Paul Rattalino. Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Elaine Davis, daughter, Sheri Picioccio and her husband Robert Picioccio of West Milford, New Jersey, daughter, Dawn Smith and husband Richard Smith of West Milford, New Jersey and Tammi Davis of Butler, New Jersey; a brother, George Davis and his wife Bette Davis, nephews George Davis and his wife Sharon, William Davis and his wife Lori all of Meshoppen, Pennsylvania, Edward Barsotti and his wife Joanne of Hawthorne, New Jersey. Charles will be missed by eight treasured grandchildren. Brittany Smith, Andrew Reder, Christine Picioccio, Carlie Smith, Matthew Reder, Sarah Picioccio, Noelle Reder and Lisa Picioccio. Dad, may you fly high on the wings of angels. At the families request all services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler, NJ. .
