Christine G. Lischick (nee Giannantonio) age 93, of Pompton Plains, formally of Northvale, NJ peacefully passed away on July 22, 2019 surrounded by family. Born December 19, 1926 and raised in Palisades Park, she was the daughter of Antonio Giannantonio and Louisa Romano and was predeceased by her husband, Kurt of fifty seven years. They raised a family of nine in Northvale where Christine was a long time parishioner of St. Anthonys RC Church prior to her move to Cedar Crest, Pompton Plains. Christine was a graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College in 1947 and received a Masters Degree in Reading from William Patterson University continuing on as a life-long teacher and educator to many beginning in the Palisades Park school system. She is predeceased by a step-sister Phyllis and eight brothers; Frank, Peter, Emil, Anthony, Albert, Nick, Gene, and Edward. She leaves behind sisters-in-law Patty, Connie, Delores, Jackie, and Gerri. Christine leaves behind nine loving children and their spouses including Elizabeth (Rich, deceased) (Bill), Charlotte (George), Edward (Kathie), Eloise (Todd), Dorothea (Ralph), Barbara (Michael), Stephen (Janice), Margaret (Anton) and Douglas (Cynthia). Christine is grandmother to 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one on the way, and aunt to many nieces, nephews as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. Christine was a teacher foremost and loved children. She was a woman of faith who faithfully attended mass. She enjoyed gardening at her home in Northvale, attended book club, enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, corresponding with family, collecting and decorating her home for holidays and the seasons. Holiday family gatherings in Northvale were special events, as well as memories of a trip to Italy with family members. She will be remembered for her gentle and gracious ways especially during her time at Cedar Crest with all those with whom she interacted. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Jude Children Hospital or New Jersey City University. Visitation will be held at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave. Butler NJ on Friday July 26, 2019 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 27, 2019 at 10:00am, also at the funeral home. Final disposition will follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ.
