David A. Davenport

David A. Davenport passed away on September 28, 2026, one day before his 78th birthday. He will be remembered as a quiet, task-oriented man whose steady presence, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to family shaped the lives of those who knew and loved him.

David served his country in the United States Navy during the Vienam War, after graduating from Butler High School, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. He later built a long and faithful career with Raynor Garage Doors in Lincoln Park, where he worked for 50 years before retiring. His dedication over so many years spoke to the kind of man he was—reliable, hardworking, and steadfast. David married Beth at the Bethlehem Church in Randolph, NJ and continued to be a member till his death.

Outside of work, David enjoyed the things that brought him excitement and comfort. He loved attending stock racing on Saturday nights, baseball, and just about any sport on television. Whether following a game or enjoying the thrill of racing, these interests were a lasting part of his life and the memories he shared with those around him. 

Above all, David treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beth, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his sons, Jeff Davenport, Jay Davenport and his wife Laura, and Troy Davenport. He was also a proud grandfather to Jacob Davenport. David is further survived by his brother, Dennis Davenport, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him with love and affection.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Davenport.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ 07405. A funeral service will follow there at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. at North Hardyston  Cemetery, Hamburg, NJ.

David’s life was marked by loyalty, perseverance, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
