(Fitamant) and they married on June 16, 1956 at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Lodi NJ. Dominic began his career at Pope & Gray as a laboratory technician and worked his way up to Executive Vice President. While employed at Pope & Gray, he enrolled in classes in the evenings, and earned his degree in Chemistry, with a minor in Philosophy, at Seton Hall University in 1965.During this time, determination, hard work and strong family values allowed him and Yvonne to raise two children together, Michael and Christopher. He founded Var-Chem Products in 1972 in South Hackensack, NJ; a leading varnish chemical company committed to creating new and innovative products for the printing ink industry. In 1980, after several expansions, Var-Chem relocated to larger facilities in Clifton, NJ. Continued growth necessitated a second plant and in 1982, Var-Chem Products of Elwood, IN was established. Both plants had been expanded, with the Indiana plant in 1998. The production capability of both locations exceeded 100 million pounds, annually. All of what he did was for his family. Dominic was extremely devoted and generous to his family and friends, and held pride in the success of his business that allowed him to take care of his community. He was staunch in his philanthropic values, routinely supporting his church, local hospitals and local organizations, unsparingly. With his well grounded and welcoming nature he was always a listening ear, and tremendous source of caring and loving support and advice. He had an incredible sense of humor and his authenticity, loyalty and kindness earned him immense respect from everyone he met. He believed strongly in a clear division of right and wrong and in doing the right thing, whatever the circumstances. He also lived with the mentality from the phrase "Illegitimi non carborundum." He was the family Patriarch, affectionately known as "Dad" "Uncle Mickey" "PopPop" "Big Cheese" "Big D" "Mr. V" "Head Honcho" "Dynamic Dom". His and Yvonnes house was where everyone was welcome. It was the regular gathering place for elaborate dinner parties, weekly meals, holidays and celebrations, creating endless lifelong memories for everyone there. He and Yvonne enjoyed the finest wine, cooking, traveling and evenings at The Metropolitan Opera and Papermill Playhouse. Dominic was a passionate golfer and longtime member of North Jersey Country Club. Their biggest achievement, however, was the family that they built together.
