Edward Arthur Kiene, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2025. He was born on June 16, 1957, in Yonkers, NY, where he spent his earliest years surrounded by his treasured aunts, uncles, and maternal grandparents. At the age of 6, Edward moved to Suffern, NY, and later while attending Suffern High School, Edward was a prominent member of the Track and Field Team. After graduating high school, Edward studied History and Economics at Manhattan College and later received his MBA through Pace University.
Throughout his career, Edward had various I.T. positions in the banking, insurance, and finance industries. He was a notable and respected member in his field and in 2015 and 2018, he was a major presenter at the IBM THINK Conference, speaking on the subject of Metadata Management. In 2022, Edward retired from Brown Brothers Harriman, where he was VP of Enterprise Data Governance and managed teams in both the United States and Europe.
In 1985, Edward met his loving wife, Catherine. Throughout their relationship, they enjoyed attending the theater, fine dining, long driving vacations, including driving to Yellowstone National Park on a whim. On May 28, 1988, Edward and Catherine married in Tarrytown, NY. They continued to live in Westchester, NY, and in 1993, they welcomed their son, Alexander. In 2005, Edward was able to move his wife and son to his childhood home to continue to raise his family.
Edward was an avid military history buff from the age of 5. He built his own fleet of model ships and hand painted hundreds of soldiers and figurines with great detail. Additionally, Edward was a fervent collector of diecast soldiers and military history texts. His passions also extended to his love of cars. Edward and his father rebuilt his first car, a Fiat Spider, in their garage. He religiously attended the New York City Auto Show for over 30 years, even bringing his son at only 1 year old. Edward loved film and film history, a passion he shared with his son. His favorite vacation spot was Cape Cod, where many family vacations were spent exploring the towns of Wellfleet, Truro, and especially Provincetown.
Edward leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold dear the memories they created together. He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. His legacy continues through his son, Alexander, and his wife, Sara, and grandson, Henry. Edward is also survived by his caring sister, Karen.
Edward’s family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:30 am. His light may have left this world, but his spirit will shine forever in our hearts.
