Edward "Scotty" Stirling, born on December 15, 1936, in Stevenson Ayrshire, Scotland, passed away on October 8, 2026, in Butler, NJ. Scotty was a beloved husband, father, Uncle, grandfather, and friend, known for his quick wit and infectious laughter. He married his wife Brenda in July of 1965, and were married for 61 years. Togethert hey raised two children: David and Laurie. Scotty became a proud U.S. citizen in 1976, and was a proud American.For 56 years, Scotty worked as a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger, earning a reputation not only for his craftsmanship but also for his jovial personality.
After work, he could often be found at the local bar, spinning jokes with his friends or brightening the day of everyone he encountered at the paint store. His love for humor was only matched by his passion for soccer. He was a dedicated fan of the Rangers in The Premier Leauge and loved to travel with the Rangers Supporters Club after retirement. He was a life long member of The Scot-American Club in Kearney,NJScotty proudly served in the British Army and was honored with a medal for his service overseas in Malaya.
He leaves behind his cherished wife Brenda, his son David (partner Rene),his Daughter Laurie (Husband AL) and a wonderful family that includes his grandchildren: Carlie Bouvier (husband Anthony), Tom Johnson (Partner Taylor), Cariann Kalil (Husband Nader), and Erica Johnson, as well as his step-grandchildren, Becky (partner Kelli), Lexi (Husband Vadym), Mathew (Wife Tilly), and Nicole Strumolo. And all of his nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Bruce "A celebration of Scotty's life will be held on October 18, 2026, 10AM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home. He will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and laughing with him.
