Enrico Cannataro, 70, of Pompton Lakes, NJ, passed away suddenly on November 19, 2017. Born in Cerisano, Italy, he was the youngest son of the late Antonio and Marietta (ne Santelli) Cannataro. Enrico came to the United States at the age of 8, lived in Little Falls, NJ, and attended Passaic Valley High School. He graduated from Montclair State College with a degree in Accounting. For the next two years, Enrico divided his time between the United States, where he worked at the Manor in West Orange as a waiter, and Italy, where he spent time with his parents in his hometown. During this period, he also studied Italian in Florence, where he met his future wife, Marietta, a native of Switzerland. Enrico obtained a teaching certification in Business and returned to work as a manager at the Manor for five years. He subsequently ran his own successful catering business, Silver Harvest, until he was recruited to become a teacher in the Culinary Arts department at Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI). During his 20 year tenure, he created and ran Chez Technique, an in-school fine dining restaurant, and established the Fine Table Service program. He also served as the President of the PCTI Teachers' Association. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marietta; his children, Lauren and Francis Cannataro and Francis' fiance, Taryn; his siblings, Francesco Cannataro, and Virginia Cannataro of Italy; and his many nieces and nephews.
