In loving memory of our mother, Eralia Miguelina Castillo (nee Torres) who passed away on August 31, 2024. She was the faithful wife of Cecilio Castillo (deceased), devoted mother of Alane Andrian-Castillo, Annette Hibbler and Cecil Castillo, and loving grandmother of five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Our mother was a kind and loyal friend, a caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong independent woman of integrity who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Her childhood during the Great Depression molded her spirit of determination. Her youth in Cuba during years of oppressive dictatorships lit in her soul the fire of independence and freedom of self-expression which propelled her to immigrate alone to the United States in 1955. By God’s grace and her hard work and thrift, she achieved her American Dream of establishing her own family, raising them in their own home and providing them with opportunities she never had. She used her love of gardening and cooking and her tailoring skills to bless others and beautify her home. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
During our growing up years, she was always focused on providing for us and encouraging us to excel in our schooling and to develop our talents. She was a woman of strong faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, loyalty, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to.
