Frederick Nicholas Reidenbach, age 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, in Arden Courts, a caring and loving memory care community in Wayne, NJ. He was born on December 26, 1932 to the late Frederick & Frances (Carter) Reidenbach and was the youngest of three children. Fred was a 1950 graduate of Columbia High School, South Orange, NJ, and served as the president of his senior class. He went on to graduate in 1955 from Cornell University with a combined bachelor and master of mechanical engineering. During his time at Cornell, Fred was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, Pi Tau Sigma honorary mechanical engineering fraternity, and his Kappa Sigma fraternity, where he served as chapter president. Upon graduation from Cornell University, Fred served in the U.S. Navy during the Suez Crisis aboard the USS Benham. In 1958, Fred began his career with the Trane Company, a leading global manufacturer of commercial and residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. His employment with the Trane Company continued for 40 years until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure with the Trane Company, he also enjoyed membership in ASHRAE, serving as the associations president from 1981 to 1982. On May 25, 1963, Fred married Susan Collins and together they raised their three children. An enthusiastic tennis player, Fred served as president of the Smoke Rise Tennis Club in 1976, at which time the club installed six new Har Tru courts for outdoor play. He served as president of the Smoke Rise Club from 1977 to 1980, during which time a historic farming structure in the community was transformed into the Smoke Rise Village Inn. Fred was also an avid golfer and 27-year member of the Upper Montclair Country Club, earning recognition on the clubs Roll of Honor. Fred will be remembered most for his athleticism, kind heart, can-do attitude, and infectious laugh. Fred is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan C. Reidenbach of Kinnelon, NJ; a daughter, Jennifer Reidenbach Searle of Sherborn, MA; two sons, Frederick N. Reidenbach Jr. of Emmitsburg, MD, and Steven P. Reidenbach of Wayne, PA; and six grandchildren, Anna L. and Michael L. Reidenbach of Emmitsburg, MD, Owen Searle of Sherborn, MA, and Marion O., Peyton E., and Lauren G. Reidenbach of Wayne, PA. Fred was predeceased by his step-father, E. Burton Smith, his sisters, Frances Provost and Anna Mae Noble, and his granddaughter, Nora Elizabeth Searle. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ.
