George Jacobus passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 88. George was born April 21, 1937, in Montclair, NJ.
As an only child to Wilbur and Wilhelmina, he was an adventurous and mischievous young lad. His mother and aunt would say “if you turned your back for a second George would get hurt somehow”. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Little Falls, NJ eventually settling in Bloomingdale, NJ. As a teen he and his friends spent a lot of time racing their cars much to his mother’s dismay. If you think of the movie American Graffiti or Grease, you’ll know what he was like back then. According to his mother “everyone wanted to be around George and his crew”. He loved his mother deeply. After his father passed away, he devoted himself to making sure she was always ok.
He loved animals, cars and the shore. As an adult George married his wife Judith and they began their family together. He spent most of his career providing for his family to give them the best life he could, and he did. Working multiple jobs, mainly at Kohler Distributing, his hands told a story, always calloused and weathered from chopping wood to heat the house to save money, hauling beer down crazy beat up stairs at bars and restaurants in Paterson, as well as other jobs.
When Judy passed away in 1996, he never desired to meet another partner. He stated, “she was the only one for me”. If he opened his wallet there, front and center, was a picture of her.
George always had a joke to tell, and it seemed like everyone knew him. He is survived by his three children, Debra (husband Paul), James (wife Tara) and Brian, as well as 6 grandchildren Katie, Ethan, Christopher, Alexander, Stephen and Michael.
