Irene Hall Kelly of Butler died on May 2, 2026. Irene was born in 1922, in West Milford, NJ, to Fred and Anna Wittich Hall. A graduate of Butler High School, Irene was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader of history and especially biographies of the British royal family. Irene learned to use a smartphone at the age of 97; she then took great delight in FaceTiming with family, beaming when she would see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was deeply proud of her family’s military service from the American Revolution through the 20th century. She celebrated all her family’s achievements and supported their ambitions.
The last of her generation, Irene was predeceased by Ramon her husband of fifty years. Her memory is cherished by her son, William Kelly; son, Edward Kelly, and his wife, Mary; daughter, Catherine Costantino, and her husband, George. Her grandchildren celebrate the love and life she shared: Elizabeth Martin and her husband Thomas; Megan Crawford and her husband Patrick; Nicholas Costantino and his wife Sarah Helble; Emily Costantino and her husband Matthew Miller; Gina Lindsey and her husband Bill and Denise Costantino. Her great-grandchildren – Lucas, Elliot, Elise, Molly, Brenna, Jolene, Olivia, Nico, Arlo and Max–will always remember how delighted Great-Gram was every time she saw them. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ, on May 5, 2026 from 10AM to 12PM with a memorial service at Noon. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Butler, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Butler Fire Department, P.O. Box 22, Butler, NJ 07405, an organization to which her husband and son dedicated countless hours over many decades totaling over one hundred years.
