James R. Wynn, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away suddenly at home on December 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 4, 1945, in Paterson, NJ, James led a life defined by love, dedication, and a commitment to his passions.
A proud graduate of Butler High School, James went on to build a successful career as a lifelong Mason and owner of JW Construction. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work were evident in every project he undertook, and he earned the respect and admiration of many for his unwavering work ethic and integrity.
James was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his warm personality. He was a very private man, often described as a "nice guy" who was always ready to go along with the crowd, making him a treasured companion and friend to many. He enjoyed traveling and found joy in playing golf, activities that enriched his life and helped him create cherished memories with his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lavelle-Wynn, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and companionship. James was also a devoted father to his children, James (Helen) and Theodore "Ted," and a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren, Sarah Rose, Julianne Mae, and Natalie Theresa. He brought joy and wisdom to their lives, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
In addition to his immediate family, James is survived by his beloved sister, Ellen Broadvent, and brother, Gerard Wynn, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry forth the memories of his kindness and gentle spirit.
The legacy of James R. Wynn will continue to live on through the stories shared by those who loved him deeply. His visitation will be held on December 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc. in Butler, NJ. As family and friends gather to celebrate his life, they will remember a man whose quiet strength and heartfelt kindness made a profound impact on everyone who had the privilege to know him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local Fire, Police or ambulance squad in his memory.
