Janet Mcgowan

Janet McGowan, 73 of Sparta, NJ, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, NJ. Born in Suffern, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and the late Mary Lou (Hollister) Masker.

Janet was a Director in the Food Service Industry, including the Kinnelon School system for 25 years. She had many loves which included her French bulldog Mr. Brown, cards, board games, crossword puzzles, Mt. Airy casinos, parasailing, and the beach, her “Happy Place.”

Janet is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Ackerman and her long-time companion, Walter Bennett, adored grandsons, Dennis and Christopher Ackerman, siblings, Joan Masker, Micki Sbrocco and her husband Steve, and Charles Masker, Jr. and his wife Terry and her husband Thomas McGowan . Janet was predeceased by her first husband, Dennis Veith and her sister Nancy Chism.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 4pm-7pm at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, N.J. Final Disposition will be private.
