With hearts heavy and full of gratitude, we announce the passing of our palangga (dearly beloved), Jasson Pineda, who went on to his greatest adventure on October 13, 2026, at the age of 44, surrounded by his family.
Jasson, born in Gingoog City, was a quiet person whose thoughts ran deep. As a young man, he was known for his philosophical ways and ideas and, in high school, was voted “most likely to write an IQ inspired book”. Naturally intelligent, the magic of his brain astonished people throughout every stage of his life. He rarely spoke but was always ready to listen. He asked for nothing and gave as much as he could. He was a big tipper, and generosity was his way of life. Up to his last moments, he never stopped giving; his organs continue to give life to many people.
He was a hard-working man who could do just about anything. He was a man who loved to tinker, a man who loved to fix, and a man who loved to move around and work with his hands and feet, and he had found a family in the wonderful people at the House of Thai. His words were few but full of life and humor, and he was a comfort to everyone around him.
Filled with boundless energy and curiosity, Jasson’s favorite activities included swimming, snowboarding and scuba diving, just to name a few. He loved being outdoors and showed great concern and respect for even the tiniest creatures. He never failed to impress with his vitality, taking it slow and steady in one moment, and moving like a man half his age in the next.
For many, Jasson had grown to be one of life’s greatest comforts. He carried his own burdens and still made room to carry ours. There will never be another with his way with words, his kindness, or his patience.
He will be dearly missed by his sons Matthieu and Jasson; his wife Mylah; his mother; his siblings; and the many others who were lucky enough to call him family.
His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home in Butler, NJ. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you instead share whatever you can - a prayer, a memory or a donation that will go towards his medical/funeral expenses and to support his sons who will have to go through life without their dad.
