Kenwood Albert Lampe
Kenwood Albert Lampe, 93, passed peacefully on June 7, 2023. He was born in Lyndhurst, NJ on December 28, 1929 to Fred and Helen Lampe and grew up there, graduating from Lyndhurst High School in 1948. He enlisted in the US Navy just weeks after graduation and was stationed in Lakehurst, NJ. In 1955, after his service with the Navy, Kenwood married the love of his life, Diana (Manning), on August 14, 1955 and began his career as a printer for the local newspaper. He and Diana moved to Bloomingdale, NJ, in 1960, where they raised their four daughters, and where Diana still resides. Over the years, Kenwood worked for the Newark Star-Ledger and then the Daily Racing Form. Following his retirement from the Daily Racing Form, he became a photographer for the local paper, Suburban Trends. Kenwood was known for his photos of high school sporting events and community and school activities. He was also an avid fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions.
Kenwood was a kind, generous and selfless man. He filled his home with laughter and music, and he was one heck of a dancer. Even in his final years when dementia had taken a strong hold, he wowed his audience on karaoke nights at his nursing facility.
Kenwood was deeply beloved by his family, who will cherish their memories of him for all their days. He was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Fred and John, and is survived by his wife, Diana, and four daughters: Karen Lampe of Bloomingdale, NJ, Jeanne Pelcher (Mike) of Bloomingdale, NJ, Ruthann Wry (Chip) of Sudbury, MA, and Judy Fitzpatrick (Mike) of Bloomingdale, NJ. Kenwood is also survived by seven grandchildren: Samantha O’Malley (John) of Boston, MA, Kelly McTague (Patrick) of Butler, NJ, Michael Kenwood Fitzpatrick (Melissa) of Butler, NJ, Kailey Fitzpatrick of Bloomingdale, NJ, Kevin Fitzpatrick of Rockaway, NJ, Abby Wry of San Diego, CA, and Sydney Wry of New York, NY. In addition, he is survived by three great-grandchildren: Maeve and Tessa McTague and Elaina Fitzpatrick.
