Lena Barranco

Lena Barranco, age 100, of Butler, formerly of Passaic, died Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Mrs. Barranco was born November 13, 1922 in Passaic, NJ the daughter of the late Giacchino and the late Carmela (Lemmo) Lipari. Lena loved to bake cookies, especially Italian cookies and loved making them for her family and friends, especially her friends at the theatre. She made a living as a seamstress and always made prom dresses, dress clothing and costumes for her daughters and granddaughter. She also sewed costumes and assisted with costumes at the theatre. Lena loved to sing and was in St. Anthony’s church choir. She loved soap operas and especially loved going to Rhino Theatre to watch performances and going out with the cast after the shows. You could always find her in her assigned seat admiring the talent of her family members, on stage and off.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Maria Opiela and husband Edward and Carmela Wolosz and husband Kenneth, her four cherished grandchildren, Terese Opiela and husband Robert Woodcock, Timothy Opiela, Hayley Gwyn and husband Gregory and Michael Wolosz and her two adored great grandchildren, Charlotte Woodcock and Ryan Woodcock.

Viewing hours will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 4pm-8pm at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, N.J. A funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday 10am at St. Anthony RC Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
