Marie Demarest

Marie Demarest of Brunswick, Maine passed away peacefully on Thursday October 9, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was born Marie Jimenez to Olga and Victor Jimenez in Bronx, New York on November 29, 1940. Her family moved to Kinnelon, NJ in 1945 where she attended St. Anthony’s School in Butler. There she met the love of her life, Donald Demarest, in the fifth grade. They both graduated from Butler High School in 1958. Marie attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser until her retirement in 2020.

Donnie and Marie married on September 24, 1960, and made their first home in Butler, NJ where they raised three daughters, Denise Roche, Robbin Poggi, and Jodi Boulette. They relocated to Brunswick, Maine in 1984 where they continued their journey. They were married forty-five years until his passing in 2005. Marie and Donnie’s family grew to include three sons-in-laws, Mark Roche, Ken Poggi, Greg Boulette, seven grandchildren: Megan Roche, Mallory Roche, Stephen Poggi (wife Jennifer), Edward Poggi, Jeffrey Poggi, Connor Boulette and Emma Boulette and two great grandchildren Juliana and Vincent Poggi.

Marie was known for her style, warm personality, and the ability to make her clients and friends feel beautiful and cared for. Through her career as a hairdresser, she met many coworkers and clients that became lifelong friends. Marie remained active in her later years enjoying swimming at the YMCA, walking on the beautiful beaches of Maine and spending time with family and friends. She also traveled frequently to visit with family back in New Jersey. Those roads were well traveled over the 41 years living in Maine.

Marie is predeceased by her husband Donald, sister Gloria Kroepfl and husband Paul, brother Victor Jimenez and wife Lois, brother Kenneth Jimenez and wife Charlotte and sister Shirley Storms. Her brother-in-law, Alfred Storms, currently resides in Florida. Although we will miss our beautiful Mom, we take comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with her husband and family that have passed on before her.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday 11/29/25 at the Knights of Columbus in Butler, NJ from 1-4 pm. In honor of Marie’s memory, donations can be made to St. Jude at www.st.jude.org or
