Nancy Joan Canty, 84, of Butler died Saturday, December 31, 2022. She was born in Paterson and lived in Kinnelon until 1956 when she moved to Butler where she resided for almost all of her life. Nancy is a proud Butler High School graduate and worked on the Class Reunion Committee all the way to their 60th reunion. Nancy loved her high school friends and stayed in touch with many of them!
Nancy was a homemaker and spent her days making her home a warm, loving and welcoming place for her family and many friends. The door was always open to anyone. As the last of her children grew up, she took on the job of bus driver and drove a special education van for 3 local transport companies for over 40 years. She retired when she was 80 and they begged her not to leave! She was extremely proud of the fact that she never got a ticket or had an accident.
Nancy was kind-hearted and generous. She always gave good advice and was very wise. But the best thing about Nancy was that if she loved you, she loved you with all of herself and you could feel it.
She was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC Church in Butler.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, John and Madelyn (nee Hubner) Canty and her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Storms. Nancy’s survivors include: her children Karen Ball Potucek, Jill Florance and John Ball and his wife, Kate and her three grandchildren, Ken Florance along with his wife, Krystal , and Madelyn and Grace Ball and one great-granddaughter, Klara. Nancy’s extended family included many cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.
