It is with profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Patricia “Patty” Paliga (née Plaskon), who left us on April 1, 2026. Born on September 6, 1946, in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Peter Plaskon and Pauline Medvitz, Pat touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
A proud graduate of Clifton High School and Immaculate Conception College in Lodi, NJ, Patty carved a meaningful career as a bookkeeper at Masessa & Cluff, Esq. in Butler, NJ, where she retired after years of diligent service. Her professional life was marked by her meticulous nature and unwavering commitment, qualities she carried over into every aspect of her personal life.
Patty was much more than a devoted professional; she was a fun-loving, family-oriented soul who was always there for others. Her door was forever open, a sanctuary of comfort for friends and family alike. Her generous spirit and warm heart made her an anchor in her community and especially within her family.
An avid reader, Patty found joy in the world of books, which fueled her curiosity and inspired her compassionate outlook. However, her proudest accomplishment, the cornerstone of her joy, was becoming a grandmother—a role she embraced with boundless love and enthusiasm.
Patty leaves behind her beloved husband Gerald, with whom she shared 58 years of loving partnership, a testament to a remarkable bond forged through time and mutual respect. She is also survived by her cherished children, Sharon Paliga (Brant Chapman) and Wayne Paliga (Andrea), both of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Her pride and joy extended to her grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Paliga, who brought immense happiness and light into her life.
The family invites all who knew Patty to celebrate her life during the visitation at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., located at 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ, on April 8, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On April 9, a Mass will be held at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 17 Pompton Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by Entombment services at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ.
Patricia “Patty” Paliga’s spirit was vibrant and full of grace, her legacy enduring in the stories she shared, the love she gave, and the family she nurtured. Though she has departed from this world, her memory remains etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. In her smile, her laughter, and her unwavering support, Patty will forever live on.
