It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Frei, age 72, who left us on October 4, 2025. Peter, or as his family called him, "Petey" or "Pop," lived a life full of love, joy, and bad dad jokes. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Mary Frei, and a proud father to Corrie Pelc, Joseph Frei (married to Carolyn Frei), and Elizabeth Williamson (married to Michael Williamson). He was also a proud grandfather to Trent, Gabe, Isobel, and Carson, who were the apple of his eye.
Born to Henry and Mary Frei (both predeceased), Pete was a simple man with a big heart and a laugh that could light up any room. He spent his days working as a furniture salesman, a job he loved because it gave him the chance to meet people and tell jokes. Whether you were buying a recliner or just chatting with him, Pete always made you feel at home.
Above all, Peter’s greatest pride and joy were his family. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved, whether it was a holiday gathering, a backyard BBQ, or simply watching a game with his kids and grandkids. He was always there with a word of advice, a funny story, or just a quiet presence that made everyone feel better.
Pete’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and simple wisdom. He may have left the game early, but we know he’ll always be rooting for us from the sidelines.
A visitation will be held on October 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., located at 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on October 9, 2025 at St. Anthony's RC Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. Burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. The family invites all who knew and loved Peter to join them in celebrating his remarkable life.
