His love will remain a guiding light to those who knew and loved him.

With heavy hearts and fond memories, we honor the remarkable life of Robert T. Smith, lovingly known as Bob, who passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026. Born on April 16, 1942, in Astoria, NY, Bob blessed this world with 84 years of boundless love, unwavering devotion, and steadfast integrity.

To know Bob was to witness a man who cherished his family above all else. His deep commitment was evident in every chapter of his life. He was the beloved husband of Marlene, who stood by his side through every triumph and trial. Their partnership was an anchor and an ever-present source of inspiration—not just for their own family, but for everyone fortunate enough to see them together.

Bob’s legacy extends with pride to his children. His son, Robert Smith Jr., and daughter-in-law, Tammy, alongside his daughters, Wendy Murray with her husband Bill, and Dianna Eastep with her husband Mike, each carry forward his lessons of resilience, love, and honesty. His cherished sisters, Kathy Norberto and Maddy Albani, survive him, holding dear the vibrant childhood memories they shared and the strength of their sibling bond.

A proud grandfather, Bob filled the lives of Liam, Colin, Robby, Emma, Emily, Jackson, Ava, Cole, and Andrew with warmth and wisdom. Whether celebrating milestones or sharing quiet moments, he delighted in seeing each of them grow and succeed. He also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Bob’s life was deeply enriched by treasured memories and meaningful work. For 28 years, he served as Plant Manager at Crest Foam in Moonachie, NJ. There, his dedication, work ethic, and willingness to go the extra mile left an indelible mark on colleagues and friends alike. Those who worked alongside him respected his ability to lead, to problem-solve, and above all, to advocate for what he believed was right.

Bob was a man of conviction—never one to back down or shy away from speaking his mind. Yet for all his strength and forthrightness, he was endlessly giving, always ready to help anyone in need. His generosity of spirit and sense of loyalty could be felt by all those who walked beside him.

Later in life, Bob found new joy through painting, capturing the beauty of birds and the outdoors—reflecting his deep appreciation for nature. These quiet pursuits brought out the same attentiveness and care that he extended to his family and friends.

Some of his most treasured moments were spent traversing the United States every summer, packed into the old station wagon for cross-country adventures with his family. Those journeys created lifelong memories, woven together with laughter, discovery, and the kind of togetherness that defines a family’s heart.

Bob’s journey was marked by both joy and sorrow, having been predeceased by his brothers John and George, whose memories he held close.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for Bob’s extraordinary life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A Mass celebrating his life will be offered on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthony RC Church, 65 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. Immediately following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.

Though Bob is no longer with us, his spirit endures—in every painting, every family story, every lesson passed down, and in the echoes of laughter during each remembered summer road trip. His love will remain a guiding light to those who knew and loved him.

Rest peacefully, Bob. Your legacy—rooted in love, honesty, and devotion—will live on for generations to come.
