Shirley V. Anderson

Shirley Anderson age 95 passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. Shirley was born in Piscataway NJ. She and her late husband Mel built a home in West Milford NJ where she resided for more than 63 years. Shirley spent many years of her life not only caring for her 7 children but also caring for many other children. Her passion was gardening and she was an accomplished seamstress. Her greatest joy was spending time with her 7 children, their spouses, 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She rarely missed a birthday, sporting event, or graduation. She had a contagious smile, loving generous heart and great sense of humor. Her faith was unwavering and she was a long standing member of St Josephs RC Church for over 60 years.

Shirley is survived by 6 of her 7 children Dale Kerstner (husband Bill) Thomas Anderson (wife Cynthia) Nancy MacLean, Dawn Gagliano (husband Joseph) Leslie Anderson (husband Dennis) Trudy Mautz (husband Derek) Kimberly Anderson (daughter n law) Adopted Son Paul Gillis (wife Patricia) Sister & Brothers: Rosemary Senatore, Christian Peter, Timothy Peter. She was Pre-deceased by her Parents Mary and Henry Peter Husband: Mel Anderson Son: Scott Anderson Son in law: Donald MacLean Brothers and Sisters: Henry Peter, Richard Peter, Betty Wicks, Carol Fox and Jeanette Peter.

Visitation will be held at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ, on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, May 18, 2026  at St. Joseph's RC Church, West Milford, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Milford, NJ.

Shirley was truly one of a kind. She was loved by so many for her generosity, thoughtfulness kind gestures and huge heart. She was loved and will be missed.
