Thomas Francis Boud, known to many as Tom, passed away on October 29, 2026, at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains. He was born on June 12, 1938, in Orange, New Jersey, and lived a life marked by dedication, service, and steady devotion to the people and responsibilities that mattered most to him.
Tom graduated from Orange High School in 1956. He then served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. After completing his military service, he continued his education at Seton Hall University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in 1963. That strong foundation would shape a long and meaningful professional life.
A lifetime accountant, Tom was known for his tireless work ethic and his deep commitment to his career. Over the years, he worked for a number of companies, ultimately retiring in 2000. Most recently, he retired from the Jersey City office of Hugo Neu Corporation. He approached his work with consistency and pride, qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Beyond his profession, Tom gave of himself in service to his community. He was especially proud to be a New Jersey Exempt firefighter, having served as a volunteer with the Hook and Ladder Company of the Bloomingdale Fire Department. That role reflected the same sense of duty and reliability that could be seen in every part of his life.
Tom also found joy in the simple and familiar pleasures of everyday living. He enjoyed stream fishing, reading on his tablet, completing handywork, and going to the gym. These interests brought him satisfaction and spoke to his active mind, capable hands, and practical nature.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Boud; his mother, Angelina Morello; his father, Thomas Boud; his brothers, Ralph Boud, Richard Boud, and Bobby Boud; and his nephew, Richard Boud, Jr. Their memories remained an enduring part of his life.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas L. Boud, who carries forward his family name and the example of his father’s steadfast character. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Ricky Lanfrank, Anthony Lanfrank, and Billy Lanfrank, as well as by his nieces, Judy Accardi and Elizabeth McMinn. He will be remembered with love by his family and by all who knew him as a man of discipline, loyalty, and quiet strength.
Tom’s life was one of commitment—to his country, to his work, to his community, and to his family. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and remain a lasting source of pride and remembrance.
A memorial gathering will be held at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8. 2026 between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm, accompanied by a memorial service and Marines honors at 2:30 pm.
