William’s story is one marked by remarkable intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and a deep, steadfast love for his family.
William Farr, a beloved husband, devoted father, and lifelong friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in Pompton Plains, NJ. Born on March 18, 1954, in Camp Kilmer, NJ, William’s story is one marked by remarkable intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and a deep, steadfast love for his family.
From an early age, William stood out for his keen mind and boundless curiosity. Gifted both athletically and academically, he was offered a full scholarship to San Jose for baseball—a testament to his prowess on the field. But William’s true calling pulled him in another direction: the world of computer programming atr IBM. He chose the path less traveled, forging a career as a computer programmer and becoming known for his extraordinary technical skill and “super computer smart” mind. His colleagues and friends admired his ingenuity, quick thinking, and quiet modesty, qualities that set him apart in any room.
Yet, it was beyond his professional accomplishments that William’s greatest sources of pride lay. He loved sports with an infectious passion—most especially the Green Bay Packers, whom he cheered on through victories and defeats alike. Sports fostered a sense of camaraderie and joy in William’s life, just as technology shaped his curiosity and wonder.
But above all, family was William’s proudest achievement. The love story he shared with his wife Carol began with laughter and a spark of destiny: on the day they first met, William playfully told Carol that he would marry her someday. She thought he was joking—yet, as time unfolded, their friendship grew into a deep, lasting love, one that saw William make good on his promise. Their marriage blossomed into a partnership rooted in devotion, warmth, and gentle humor.
William is survived by Carol, his cherished wife and best friend; his beloved children, Jessica Farr and Edward Farr; and his daughter-in-law, Ashley. Together, they were William’s truest legacy—a family shaped and strengthened by the integrity and kindness he lived out each day. He leaves them with memories of a man who was adventurous, supportive, and unyieldingly loving—a constant presence through life’s every triumph and challenge.
A visitation in William’s memory will be held on August 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc., located at 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ 07405. A memorial service will follow at the same location, beginning at 7:30 PM. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by William are invited to gather in shared remembrance of a truly remarkable man.
As his loved ones hold fast to the treasured moments they shared, William’s kindness, wit, and love will continue to light the lives of those who remain. His legacy endures, not just in the stories told, but in the unbreakable bonds he forged—reminders that even in parting, the warmth of his presence lingers.
