William G. Van Houten, age 87, of Butler died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover.Mr. Van Houten was born August 9, 1920 in Butler, NJ the son of William A. and Etta (Miller) Van Houten. He married Norma Crum September 29, 1945 at the Butler United Methodist Church, Butler. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II.He worked for Forms Design in Pompton Plains as a sales representative before retiring. Mr. Van Houten was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church since 1932, and former president of its Youth Fellowship, Building Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Usher Society, and founder of "Layman's Day". William was a member of VFW, and the American Legion all in Butler. He was also a former President of the Butler Board of Education for two terms, and a member of the Republican Club.Devoted husband of Norma (Nee Crum). Beloved father of Leigh and wife Laurel, Mark and wife Cindy, and the late Carol Ann Arnott. Cherished grandfather of Eight, and great-grandfather of one. Viewing hours will be Thursday, August 23rd, 2007, from 2:00 -4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm at The Morrison Funeral Home 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler. The funeral will be Friday 1:30pm at Butler United Methodist Church, Butler.Burial will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Butler on Friday at 2:30 pm.
