William J. Hester, of Butler, NJ, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on October 31, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born on August 30, 1939 in Paterson,NJ, and lived a life rich with passion and dedication.
William dedicated much of his professional life to the field of, serving as a Systems Operator for Jersey Central Power & Light in Morristown NJ. His commitment to his career was matched only by his genuine enthusiasm and positive spirit. If anyone inquired about his well-being, he would always reply with an unwavering, “fantastic,” a testament to his optimistic outlook on life.
Beyond his professional life, William was an avid hiker who cherished the great outdoors. His weekends were often spent with his wife, traversing trails, exploring nature, and appreciating the beauty surrounding him. He also had a deep commitment to community service, having been an active member of the 4-H Club in Haskell. William found special joy in training dogs for The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ, reflecting his kindness and love for animals.
William is survived by his loving wife, Carol A. Hester, and their two daughters, Sheri Tallent and her husband Mark, and Pamela Lerman and her husband William Hout, he was predeceased by his daughter Jacqualyn Hester. He was a proud grandfather to Christiana Gervasoni and Reagan Lerman, who brought him immense joy and laughter. William is also survived by his brother, Thomas Hester and his wife Rita, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly.
William’s memory will also be held close by those who loved him, including his late sister Betsy Ursich, who now rests in peace.
William J. Hester will be remembered not only for his contributions to his profession and community but also for the warmth he brought to his family and friends. His legacy of positivity, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
