William J. Schwaner

William J. Schwaner, age 91, of Garfield, died Thursday, October 8, 2015. Mr. Schwaner was born in New York City, the son of the late William and the late Florence (Freeman) Schwaner. He was the former owner of Bills Friendly Spa in Clifton and proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps. during WWII flying 35 missions over Germany attaining 3 Bronze Battle Stars, and 1 Air Medal with 1 Silver Star Cluster as an aerial gunner. He is survived by his devoted wife Carmella of 34 loving years, his beloved children, William and wife Claire, Suzanne Cortese and husband Ray, Christopher and wife Carol and Matthew and wife Barbara, and two cherished grandchildren, Dean and Daniel Schwaner. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. All other services will be private.
